Why is temperature protection so important for downhole batteries?

The rate of chemical reaction within a battery varies with temperature. Temperatures that are too high or too low may affect the performance and life of the battery.

Excessive battery temperatures may lead to thermal runaway, creating a chain reaction that results in a rapid increase in battery temperature or even a fire or explosion.

Materials in batteries, such as electrolytes and electrodes, are temperature sensitive. Extreme temperatures may damage the structure of these materials and affect the performance of the battery.

Prolonged exposure to unsuitable temperatures will accelerate battery aging and shorten its service life.
